Avalon Enterprises, a lovely 30 acre farm nestled in O'Brien Florida owned and operated by Dean and Megan Graham, offers full service training programs for both horses and riders in dressage, show jumping and cross country disciplines.
Megan is a FEI level trainer and competitor. She is a kind rider and horses appreciate her gentle approach. Everyone, horses and rider alike, who want to learn are welcome in her training program and seem to thrive under her compassionate stewardship. Megan has qualified numerous horses for the USDF regional championships. She spends the show season competing horses, and coaching students, while maintaining a successful training and sales business throughout the year. Megan has her USDF bronze and silver metals and is currently pursuing her gold. She is also an “L” graduate “with distinction”. Megan has been fortunate enough to work with many icons of dressage such as Major Anders Lindgren, Walter Zettl, Max Gahwyler, and Sally Swift. In more recent years Megan has trained with Pierre St. Jacque and clinics with Herwig Radnetter, first rider at the Spanish riding school.
Dean is a native of Whenuapai, New Zealand, where his mother bred and raised warmblood horses for dressage, hunting and three-day eventing. He began competing and hunting his mother's horses at age eight and was a Pony Club member for 14 years. As a teenager in New Zealand, he competed extensively in eventing and show jumping and later whipped-in for four years for the Waitemata Hunt. Dean has been living in the United States since 1991. While living here he has trained and competed numerous horses to the advanced level of eventing. He has worked extensively with young horses and starts many horses every year. Dean is well known for getting young horses started and giving them confidence. Dean also conducts clinics and coaches students throughout the Eastern states. Dean and his wife Megan, an upper-level dressage rider, also present numerous horses every year at the USDF breed shows and to the many breed registries. He also owns a successful equine photography business called Graham Photography.
We like to have one or two working students as part of our team throughout the year. The position is a full time job that is best suited for individuals who are serious about their riding. Our working student program offers instruction, riding experience, learning opportunities and housing in exchange for working on the farm. Dean and Megan work with each student making sure to address their individual needs and aid them in attaining their goals.
